Power4Schools

Palmer Energy is the energy consultant assisting hundreds of school districts across Northern Ohio on their electricity purchases through the Power4Schools Program.

In 2011 the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA), Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO), Ohio Schools Council (OSC) and the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) joined forces to create the Power4Schools program.  Power4Schools (P4S) negotiated an 8.5 year power supply deal with FirstEnergy Solutions that has saved districts over $20 million since its inception.  While the savings will vary from year to year, Power4Schools anticipates savings averaging about $8 million annually through the term of the existing deal.  

In addition to the savings provided through their participation in the program Power4Schools has also been active in various energy regulatory cases at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).  These efforts representing the P4S members are focused on avoiding cost increase or obtaining incremental savings through the regulatory participation process.
